The hay fever radar app has been developed in two versions. This free version with an advertisement and an advertisement-free paid version. By purchasing the paid app, you support future updates and the development of the forecast model. The app consists of a number of components:
- Multi-day forecast map:
The map of the Netherlands provides an overview of the expected hay fever complaints for today and the next 4 days. By swiping to the right, the next day becomes visible in combination with the weather trend for the day in question. The underlying model is based on regional weather forecasts, observations by biologists, the flowering calendar of trees, grasses and herbs, pollen counts and complaint reports.
- The Pollen Journal:
Biologist Maurice Martens of Pollennieuws regularly writes an extensive journal with the most recent developments in the field of pollen. Which trees, grasses or herbs are currently in bloom? Which weather factors currently influence the pollen pressure?
- Average Complaint Score:
Each season is different. The weather in particular has a major influence on the daily pollen pressure and thus indirectly on the pattern of complaints. The graph with the average complaint score per day shows this nicely. This plots the current complaint score against that of the past 4 years.
- Pollen concentration:
The pollen team of the Elkerliek hospital in Helmond analyses air samples for the number and type of pollen. These pollen concentrations can vary greatly per day. This graph shows the counts of the most allergenic tree or plant at that time.
- Complaint reports:
You can indicate how much you currently suffer from hay fever. You will then receive feedback on all reports on that day, so that you can see what the general picture is. If you want to keep a log of your complaint pattern, you can also download the Pollen News app. This contains an extensive logbook module, with which you can compare your complaint pattern with the flowering calendar.
- Advertisement, the paid version of hay fever radar is ad-free.

You do not need to log in with a name or email to use the app, the complaint report that you can make via the app is therefore anonymous.
